When Sleep Eludes

All those nights
When sleep eludes
The wily night plays
Many tricks!

Sometimes it smiles
Sometimes it mocks
Sometimes it pains
Most times it tosses

It tosses the body
On its undulating waves
Teases the mind and heart
And leaves one empty, dry and high!
