When The Local Team Wins Poem by Francis Duggan

When The Local Team Wins

Since business is brisk in the local pub tonight
The publican on his face has the smile of delight
The footy fans drinking and happy with the cub's big win in football
And the publican too very happy though sport does not interest him at all
He is always in a good mood when the local team win
And on his face he has a wide and happy grin
And what is for him is also for his wife
Making money out of selling liquor is their main interest in life
They know when the local team win the fans will be in the mood for cheer
And they will spend more money on liquor and beer
When the local team win the publicans smile
And they are feeling happy if only for awhile
When the local team wins the fans celebrate
And in the local pub they party until late.
