When We Were Poor Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

When We Were Poor

Rating: 5.0

My mother wipes off the
tears rolling down her cheeks.
Her eyes are like blood. I ask her
what is the matter. She goes on
crying. You won't understand.
The nights are like bad dreams.
He comes with nothing in his
pockets. And I have to feed all
of you begging door to door.
My little heart does not know
the humiliation of being poor.
