When Words And Music Collide Poem by chris schwartz

When Words And Music Collide

Rating: 5.0

Her eyes closed
As the city lights faded
Into the dark of night
It was all that she hated
In the rearview mirror
Riding in the car
He was driving
Creeping at 80 miles per hour.
Driving oh so slowly
Past the speed of light.
He was hot
She was sexy
Pushed the pedal
Into the city
Just to be with him.
Til the tread
On those new tires
Started wearing thin.
He kept on driving
From the east to the west
All the way to the Midwest
Grinding gears and puttingon miles
On the road
Just to keep her
From getting bored.

Then the rain pounds on the windshield
Wipers working as fast as they are able
Can't see the road ahead
Can't see the clearing
But, this damn storm
Wasn't meant to last.
Just pull it over
And tomorrow
We'll start over
On the road
That found our way here.
On that damn road
That draws me here.
Back to you.
Right back to you,
Baby Girl.
