Whenever They Kindle A Fire Of War Poem by Mohammad Younus

Whenever They Kindle A Fire Of War

'Whenever they kindle a fire of war,
Allah extinguishes it;
and they strive to create disorder in the earth,
and Allah loves not those who create disorder.'

The sun of peace has risen,
but you do not see it.
The singers of peace are singing,
but you do not hear them.
The flowers of peace are blooming,
but you do not smell their fragrance.
The cool breeze of peace is blowing,
but you do not feel its touch.

You are consumed—
lost in the games of your mind,
which only steal away your peace.

But when you breathe in peace deeply,
and gaze with your whole heart,
you will see that everything
echoes with the sound of peace.

The sun of peace shines within you,
yet you dwell in the darkest corners.
The birds of peace sing inside you,
but your ears are plugged with
the cotton of the undivine.
The entire manifestation is
one of divine peace,
but you wear a blindfold—remove it,
so you can see the truth:

You are not confined
to this small frame of flesh and bones.
You are in the entire universe,
and the entire universe is within you.

The opening of the inner eyes
is a wondrous thing;
it reveals the reality, the single truth.
It makes life beautiful and meaningful,
again and again.

The One is everywhere,
The One is all time,
The One is all space—
if we only learn how to be with the One.
