Where Are You, Don Imus? Poem by Faith Wood

Where Are You, Don Imus?

Where are you, Don Imus?
One less mistake and you'd be still surfing through
the radio waves into my ears
But you had the urge to be one step down
from politically correct
I'll tell ya I ain't no 'nappy headed hoe'
But I do salute you
If I had a hat I'd take it off and lay it at your feet
Why is it you that gets called out?
After all, even a girl of sixteen can tell
a joke from a racial slur
Why didn't they fire Jon Stewart
or snap at that one controversial writer, Ann Coulter?
They both spit out horrible words-
So does the rest of the world for that matter
Can somebody please explain to me
what happened to our guarunteed amendment
of freedom of speech?

Faith, the answer is 'free speech' is ok until the 'virtuous' Al Sharpton wants to make a big racial & sexist issue out of it. Even if it was just a 'joke' that echoes rap culture's word usage...., it was done in very poor taste, and it was about an outstanding girl's team who had just lost a heartbreaker of a major championship. Best, T.M..
