Where Eagles Dare... Poem by Shaun Cronick

Where Eagles Dare...

Onward and upward,
Safe and slow.
Cold as hell,
Ice and snow.

Granite rock,
Challenges all.
One mistake,
Down you go.

Terminal velocity,
Is one two five.
Stay sharp and focused.
Don't take that dive.

Step by step,
Take no chances.
Slowly but surely,
Small advances.

God it's hard,
This vertical face.
Sheer endurance,
Now takes place.

On its summit,
Sky so blue.
Worth the effort,
What a view!

Why do you climb.
Because it's there.
To reach the top,
Where eagles dare.
