Where Is The Outcry? Poem by Juan Olivarez

Where Is The Outcry?

More people die,
Every single day,
Than in Iraq.

More people die,
Every single day,
Than in Afghanistan.

Rocket propelled grenades,
Car bombs,
Mass murder.

Large mass graves,
Filled with decomposing bodies,
Of men, women, and children.

Yet there is no outcry,
There is no indignation,
There is no shame.

Where is,
The United Nations?
Where is,
The international outrage?

Where is the United States?
Mexico is our neighbor,
Sooner or later,
We will pay the piper.
