Where There Is Only Mistrust Poem by Francis Duggan

Where There Is Only Mistrust

Where there is only mistrust friendship cannot thrive
And with the warlike as leaders peace cannot survive
And when the non fighting warriors do have their way
'Tis mostly the innocents with their lives who pay
Their delving into the future has been accurate so them why should we doubt
By the Mayan prophecies great change is about
And since few things in life ever do seem to last
By the year 0-12 war may be of the past
Though such a thing I may not be around for to see
For in life as we know there is no guarantee
But going by the long dead Mayan Prophets change is on the way
Changes for the better the more hopeful do say
From war and it's suffering few stand for to gain
And the white flower of peace may well soon bloom again
