Wherein I Wonder Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Wherein I Wonder

Where in my dream have I heard a songbird singing
Can it be a place I've forgotten
Lost never to be

In my heart is forever a face never seen
Left here in the sadness
Trapped within me

My songbird is singing
Wherein sometimes I wonder
Shall I follow my heart
Will it lead to my dream

Summer leaves may hide apples
Sometimes there is doubt of the tree
Whoever smells of sweet fruit
May bring lost hearts where they lead

If passion quenches like water
Beyond my hope for her need
Then so the songbird can flutter
In this way set my heart free
