While The Signs Of Winter Are Disappearing (Italian Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

While The Signs Of Winter Are Disappearing (Italian Sonnet)

Everywhere the cosmos are appearing,
after the days of soaking spring rain,
the entire veldt is like Eden again.
To me this time of year is endearing

while signs of winter are disappearing
and with new seed the earth does life maintain.
While each bird rejoices you bring pain,
if to something abysmal you are adhering.

Brightened days do gently caress me
as all my life you do rearrange,
up-leaping you do my heart in pieces tear,
as if you could really possessed be,
or evilly enlightened to bring change,
as desires are creeping from their dark lair.
