While You Were Sleeping Poem by Guarded Heart

While You Were Sleeping

I couldn’t help but watch you
You were so peaceful
As I stared down at you
While you were sleeping

I packed my bags, I knew I was leaving
Forgive me my dear, I know you were sleeping
I kissed you for the last time
I’m sorry I never said goodbye

I told you I was coming back
It was the hardest lie I’ve ever told
Don’t ever forget that I love you

I’ll visit you in your dreams
I’ll bring you the desired peace
Your deepest secrets I will keep
I’ll watch over you while you’re asleep

This was really nice to read. Reminds me a little of the movie While You Were Sleeping.
