White Poppy Poem by Stephen Pennell

White Poppy

Wear your poppy with pride, for the soldiers who fought
They stood for freedom, not to glorify death.
Or to see their children fight the same fight.
Remember their sacrifice.

Show you care and respect their bravery
Wear your poppy white.
So politicians are reminded the peace should last.

The mothers of the union wear them white.
The fathers of the church wear white.
Siegfred Sassoon who witnessed war, wore white.
A breast lapel as room for red and white, remember their sacrifice.
