Who Is The I? - Poem by Rm.Shanmugam Chettiar.
Who is the I? who is Self? Who is Soul?
Not the brain, not the heart, not the genitals;
Not the cell, not the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)
Not the mind, not the intellect, not the ego.
Not the perception, not interpretation.
Not the emotion, not the imagination.
But the chemical energy that runs, and runs through, these,
Like electric energy, which is not the bulb,
Not the filament, not the burning,
Not the wire, which is a conductor,
But the electric energy that runs and runs through these.
