Why Poem by Daniel Bernard Kelleher

Why

I arrived on a bus at a unfamiliar town
The driver informed me this was my stop
He handed me a card as I went to step down
The directions will guide you to the spot

Some unknown reasons I was filled with dread
Each corner I turned I could feel the sorrow
My instinct told me I should be afraid
To carry on I felt there would be no tomorrow

I came to a church and entered inside
Got down on my knees at a statue of Jesus
I prayed for help as I broke down and cried
A vision descended and dried my eyes

Take my hand and I'll guide you home
Your pain has ended now you must rest
Your days of roaming has drawn to a close
Centuries of looking as the world kept changing
