Why do some of us drift from the shore,
Seeking the solace of far-off tides?
What whispers draw us, quiet and sure,
Where stars blaze bright and darkness hides?
Is it the wind with its restless song,
Or voices of ghosts that linger near?
Or memories deep, unhealed and strong,
Calling us forward, year by year?
We go like waves to a boundless sea—
Perhaps to find what we used to be.
