Why does he seek my flower's bloom,
Its petals soft in evening's gloom?
The dawn of love, so faint, so shy,
Yet still he comes with eager eye.
Does he not hear the nightbird's cry,
Or see the stars, so far and high?
The sky is wide, the world is vast,
Yet all he holds is what won't last.
My flower fades beneath his gaze,
Its fragrance sweet, a fleeting phase.
Does he not want the roots, the rain,
The soil that bears both joy and pain?
In transient beauty he delights,
But love's true garden takes its flight.
I am the earth, the winds, the sky—
He only wants the bloom to die.
Yet still I wonder, still I wait,
For more than petals, more than fate.
