Why My God Why

Rating: 5.0

My God, my God, hear my prayer
Why Lord, do You love me?
What have I thought, said ever done?
From shame! You'd set me free?

I know the bible reveals much
Your living Word's most plain
Why did You deem my soul to touch?
Me! to be born-again

No! it's not false humility
Not for love, joy and peace
Not for worldly stability
Nor for selfish increase

You've given, met, my every need
Nothing more could be true
My soul, You've sowed Life's living Seed
What! have I done for you?

Joyful tears pour down my face
My prayers are dreadful short
How on earth do I earn Your grace?
Nothing's of good report

Up city streets, down country roads
Knowing where I belong
Where yoke's are easy, light are the loads
Singing Salvation's song

Lord, I've never, had it so good
Truly, I know not why
How, Lord why, this wretch, ever could
Live with My God on high

Long pondering, estimating
While pacing to and fro
This way, that, anticipating
My God, You! only know.....
