Why Should I Be Bitter - Poem by Saigyo

Why should I be bitter
About someone who was
A complete stranger
Until a certain moment
In a day that has passed.

''We lived with out them prior to knowing them quite happily and after meeting them we become dependent.'' [from Milica's comment, below]

Indeed it is not this one the concept expressed by Saigyo's waka.. Just the opposite. The point is ''In a day that has passed'' - and also that ''someone'' has passed, along with that day..

Food for thought.....everyone is a stranger until that certain moment when we meet. We lived with out them prior to knowing them quite happily and after meeting them we become dependent...... (Report) Reply
