Wilted Rose Poem by Midifo Yearns

Wilted Rose

Something dead without a place to lay.
Familiar road transmutes in unfamiliar space
To find the goal, it seems we’ve lost the way.
The home is gone. They’ve left without a trace.

Strangers offer help, unravel road ahead
Road is long, unwelcome is the track
With sweat of brow, as Adam earned his bread,
While Abel failed to shield from Cain his back

What terror, O what awfully dreadful fear
Explodes with angst the noble dreams of those
Who run on spot to catch the hope of yesteryear
And find they hold but sad and wilted rose

Fragrance gone, just blown away in wind
And yet the dream will not give in nor disappear
Hope revives and life does not rescind
Attentive eye take note with willing heart to hear.

There’s banging at the door. I wonder who is there.
Could this be life with something fresh to share?
