Wishing To Meet! Poem by Vanessa Hughes

Wishing To Meet!

A middle-aged lady wishing to meet,
Someone who doesn't lift the loo seat,
A person who doesn't have a right side to dress
Someone who wears a bra not a vest
I suppose what I mean in a roundabout way
Is I want a woman, cos I'm thoroughly gay!

i hope you are well..............or dead! ;) Vanessa, i see you seem to not be on PH now. but i am going to use this poem. put into MyPoemList years ago, in what i call my Showcase for PH poets. i am using it in my/our May 2017 edition, along with poems from at least 29 other poets. i have been doing these monthly showcases for a couple of years and i want to put some 'new blood' and more women into May's. let me know if you object. Thanks. i DO always give full credit to the poem creator, AND i plan to send you and others the first half of May's showcase in the next week or so. most of the poets are my PH 'friends'. i hope you MET that special someone! bri :) see my earlier comment from 2012, below.

though i only read two poems by you i am adding you to BOTH my mypoemlist and my mypoetlist. when i started reading this i at first thought i would tell you I don't lift the toilet seat, BUT SORRY i am already married (for the fourth time) . THEN after reading the ending (i got a little confused BEFORE the ending by the way) i realized i didn't have to make you unhappy. thank goodness. i hate it when i make women unhappy......well not really, but they hate it it seems.

How I wish others would not say; And misuse the word, gay For in other times and places Gay had the meaning of happiness. Now for some reason unknown It's to lift the darkness and let light be shown On others who have passions With sexual overtones. So dance to a different drummer if you like But call it what it is, (is another word a dike?) No offense is intended for we all must do what we must do But please leave joy, happiness and gay as the best of old and new. And be vivacious, lively, sprightly, animated, merry, blithe, and other whims Such as jocular, jovial, jolly, playful, frolicsome, and sportive (to quote Webster's synonyms.) s
