Wishing We Were Young Again Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Wishing We Were Young Again

Hand in hand, walking through memories of yesterday when we two
were so in love, nothing to get between us, sharing and living
our lives so happily.

Then going to work, each of us working at different places, find-
ing little time to be together, meeting other people, going out
and having fun.

As the months wore on, seeing less and less of each other, some-
how our paths became permanently separated and our lives went
on different pathways from one another.

No one is to blame, it just happened and now we two are married
to someone else, raising children and living separate lives, yet
through the years, always keeping in touch.

Talking on the phone, joking, laughing, reminiscing like when we
were younger, living on opposite sides of the globe, staying in
touch with one another.

Then one day while talking, realizing how much we've missed one
another throughout our lives, knowing in our hearts that we were
soulmates, meant to be together always.

Now we've made other lives, but that deep bond of unconditional
love has never once been broken, thinking of our times of long-
lost love, wishing we were young once again.
