With Eyes Like His Poem by Josh Bashline

With Eyes Like His

His eyes light up the night with the power of 50 thousand candles.
His soul burning like the heat of the flame.
Never has he feared anything,
until now.

A young girl with eyes like his and soul that burns,
stares him down like a wolf hunting its prey.
Never blinking.
Never breathing.

The silence cripples the man like a cold wind in winter,
Something not felt often in the Desert.
His eyes drift down to the child’s arms to the object she possesses.

Still she stares him down.
He’s one of them.
A follower of the Great Satan.
With the colored patch on his shoulder and look of desperation,
She stares down Sgt. Emerson with an Ak-47 in her arms.

Gun shots break the silence in Baghdad as the young Iraqi falls.

That's insane! It's really good, I'm impressed.
