With Good-Night Came Nightmare Of Thousand Nights

Clad in apron and diaper
Like a baby angel she is sleeping in a bed for half a decade
Almost-right with tearful eyes I remember
Once a beauty bubbling with energy and fortitude
Adorned with ornaments of gold and silver
From head to foot with anklets specially fashioned
To awaken a melodious sound to be heard by a casual listener
While upon cheer and despair she walked
Not the least delightful was her home once while in her lofty chair
Alike were the loved and loving in her home sacred
Had children and husband love infinite and respect for her
Though in great devotion God she worshiped
And was a soul so immensely blessed to work, see and live a life full
of care,
Dare and affection to spare until last winter to be precise and so
specified
When children bade good-night one day off to their loving mother
Little knowing that they were hearing her last word
Then came with good-night a gift of nightmare
Of her thousand nights and days mute and silenced
Sun seems a mystery and the moon an anodyne to her
For the moon sings lullaby and stars suffuse dreams vivid with no end
But for warmth this life would have been closed earlier
God is just a spectator being amused
With sequence of events that follow in quiescence and come like a despair
And Mother Earth being bound by love huge and untold
Hesitates to part with her to God's acre
Lest she may be proclaimed
A mother of love so vain and pretentious for her child fair
And death is as casual as a fickle apple hanging overhead
Left to ripen and fall on her at the appointed hour
Oh God, all the emotions of her are almost drained
For the pain and pleasure to her are the same and what is left in her
Save only an ounce of flesh and bones and a little blood
Ample enough not to die down the flood of tears but whither
Will ascend is not known to them until God
Upon trimming down the mighty fortress of time will sail ashore
Her soul unseen, unharmed and charmed
