Within The Castle Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

Within The Castle

Rating: 5.0

We wandered through the castle
Enjoying all the lovely things
The furnishings and the paintings
The ornaments and the chandeliers
We fell behind the rest of the group and guide
Who was clearly tired and boring anyway
We would be the last to be shown around
On that particular day
I left you standing by a painting
And went on alone
Till I came to a dimly lit bedroom
Wherein I didn't like its' feel
There was an ominous, sick, dark presence about
I can't describe it more clearly
And when I said, I don't like this room
I thought I heard you reply, Neither do I
But when I turned towards you, I found
I was talking to a disembodied head.

Yikes, now, from the graveyard to the forrest and into the castle...but, I must admit, I have been in places where the 'feel' of a room was not right. Keep going. I think you are giving Poe and his beating hearts and locked rooms a run for his money!
