Wintertime Poem by Marilyn Shepperson

Wintertime

Rating: 5.0

Snowflakes fall like feathers
To thicken the blanket on the ground
Bare trees also give testament
To the fact that winter is here
Water is frozen, 'cept where it runs fast
There's a creaking at the edges
Where it's gripped fast, in an icy clasp
The snow is now a blizzard curtain
Hiding the sun from view
But there's no warmth in it anyway
All life is hushed, nothing moves
The earth is at rest now until the spring.

Time to hunt mistletoe, go sleigh riding, ski downhill, and break out the hot chocolate! Thank you for bringing winter alive, even though it is 'resting' now. I feel the life under the snow, however, and live in hope for the return of Springtime! Lovely writing, Marilyn.

I particularly like winter as a time of rest and rejuvination Marilyn, and Christmas is a coming! lol Nice work, it makes a very cold picture though, add a log fire! is my advice. Makes all the difference, smiling at you, Tai
