Wolf Death Song - Poem by Andi Jakobs
Topaz eyes; crimson blood
The majesty of nature, so misunderstood.
He lay there unmoving; so close to death.
He give a goodbye call with his dying last breath.
His eyes close, and his suffering ends.
The fate of his family still pends.
He is hauled away by the two-legged beast.
The hunt for today has finally ceased.
His family watches in dismay,
As his bloody carcass is pulled away.
His pups, they make the saddest sound,
As the others begin to gather around.
The wolves, they sing the song of death.
That is, the wolves that are left.
The sorrow in their eyes glows so bright.
They have been singing this song every night.
