I wonder-
I wonder where I’ll be in twenty years.
I wonder who my real friends are.
I wonder if I’ll make dance line next year.
I wonder if I’ll ever get things right.
We wonder about unimportant things like these.
We waste away the days and nights wondering.
We wonder about things that only concern us,
But do we take the time to think or even wonder-
About the little girl next door hearing her parents fight,
About the grieving old man down the street who’s planning a funeral,
About the teenage boy who ran away last night.
There are things like this and even greater things to wonder about-
Like the war in Iraq,
Like the countries where so many children are orphaned,
Or the cancer patients who are dying because of something they can’t fight,
Even the presidential election and how one vote can change our lives.
These are the things to think about and wonder about.
For these are the things that are important in this mystery called life.
Samantha - I like the direction of your thoughts. Only fifteen but already focused on life's true meaning. And you say it so well. You may like my 'If I Should Lose May Soul' poem. Blessings - Cheryl
wow this poem is so hard hitting. at the beginning the wonderings sound so innocent, but then you expose that they are really so trivial and self involved. Thanks for sharing and keep writing more. God bless Alice
