Word Of 2018 - Toxic

As a 'bow' was a 'toxon' in Greece,
one would think
that our Word of the Year
came from the word for the thing
from which a poisoned arrow could be fired.

Strangely removed.
I don't know,
but, for less removal,
could a toxon in Greece
have also been an arrow?
