World Cup: 'By Any Other Name'

A team,
two of whose colours are white and red,
strong in attack,
but said to lack
in standard tools of defence,
made it to the finals nevertheless,
having honed deception tools
in acting schools.

They made our now nearly all-seeing eyes
rue,
but apply the word 'simulation',
to make more acceptable what they do,
what, for some,
will always be nothing but 'lies'.
