World Environment Day 2020 Poem by narayana aghalaya

World Environment Day 2020

PROTECT BIODIVERSITY

it is most urgent,
riot act, read to humans:
' you are just tenants
on this earth, just also-rans;
cease forthwith, sinister plans'

someone has to speak,
for all, flora and fauna;
they are mute and meek,
humans have gone bananas,
the world, is in, deep trauma.

humans, idiots?
that doubt lingers, as we watch
their vast appetite.
sharks, whales, bats, have been, their catch;
their stupidity unmatched.

what humans should know:
they are sharp thorns, in earth's flesh;
remove them, earth glows
with joy, as, flowers go fresh;
fauna splash, like kids, in creche.

birds, need no humans;
their absence, they celebrate;
predators have plan;
they eat prey, till they are sate;
then, prey are free, with their fate.

humans should eat to live;
consume as less as they can;
to burn less, should strive;
fuel, humans burn, isscam:
' let ozone layer be damned.'

millions of trees,
have been felled, for furniture;
frightened, birds flee;
species left, with no future,
are extinct; that is nature!

there is remote hope:
if humans, take, backward steps,
still, there is, much scope.
earth can be, heavenly hep;
time for humans to thumbs up!
