YOSHI'S GRUELLING MARATHON
- - -
none has ever swum,
a marathon, in such, style,
what Yoshi has done:
twenty-three thousand ocean-miles,
thirty miles a day, needs guile!
Yoshi, a sea turtle,
left Cape Town on her mission,
moving in circles,
now heading, to Point Samson,
over. two years plus two months.
Yoshi, when just two,
was caught, in a fishing net,
and, in bad shape too;
then grew up well, as a pet,
under loving care, of a vet.
when she reached twenty,
and weighed, four hundred pounds,
with fanfare plenty,
she was released, with her health, sound
into sea, which has no bounds.
to fend on her own,
first, to evade predators,
and catch prey as prone;
in the wild, life can be cursed;
one's, fate, none else, has remorse.
Yoshi undeterred,
endured, draining marathon;
it is now, inferred,
she is close, to Point Samson.
the world showers love, by tons.
a satellite tag,
tracked, the historic sojourn,
working with no snags.
Samson is for nesting, we learn;
she needs rest, she must be, worn.
aquatic life forms,
thousands of types, need oceans
to be clean, and cause, no harm;
vile humans, cause pollution;
this practice, humans, should shun.
