World: Unwilling To Wake Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

World: Unwilling To Wake

As if in a fond dream world's caught—
A sprawling place in sudden fire,
Or a cadaver on a pyre
Placed to burn off— and burn it aught,
To perish, grey ashes to breed,
Apathetic has grown this world,
A part burns; the rest takes no heed,
Oblivious, blissfully lulled;
A few know the outcome so well,
But wide-eyed watch, not to react,
Like proverbial frogs in a well,
And few that come forward to act
Be like a drop in a vast lake,
A ripple that nothing can shake!
