Wounds And Tension Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Wounds And Tension

Wounds and tension

India was portioned
The boundary was lined
Some were left for future conflicts
The wounds were to be inflicted

The great land was cut from two sides
With accession clause to decide
Many states were asked to exercise their option
The two newly born states were soon to strain relations

Let us outright pay tribute Sardar Patel then home minister
Who had courage to take full support and muster?
All princely states were brought under one umbrella or cover
India was now succeeded to become federal power

India was surrounded by two hostile countries
With so much addition of miseries
How many refugees entered to add additional load
The peace was derailed and free movement was blocked

India seemed totally eclipsed
The population was not pleased
History left behind seeds of dissension
Still we are bleeding with wounds and tension
