A powerful message in just three potent lines! The message is discouraging but needs to be heeded. Thanks to poet Susan Williams for her various interpretations of the poem and for tracing out the definition of 'xenotropic' - 'replicating or reproducing only in cells other than those of the host species', which I failed to find out from the dictionary.

Is wishful thinking (or even hope) narcissism? ? And those comments do come! Thanks, amazing Poet!

Then again maybe the wolf is the deadly corona-virus and we are the host and we're going to die because people can't read the instructions on a package of masks....

A very brutal and somber work, its power comes from being direct and potent. I looked up xenotropic and the word is fitting for the piece and for the current american electoral body. Its a very brutal and clever poem, it hits home well. I wish I had written it!
Thank you so very much, Kevin. And I can't tell you how many times I've been moved by your work. Thanks again.
