Yahaya Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Yahaya

Five smooth stones from the brook and,
Of the sunshine of love that it brings to you;
But like a ruddy and a handsome youth,
Here i am my love for, you called me.

From the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear,
And like the pawpaw i do eat at times;
But i have a sword, a spear and my shield standby!

She lay down next to him until the morning came,
And she told me all that the man did to her;
But spread your wings of love around me,
For i am glad that you've chosen to marry me!

You are not giving in after the young men around,
And you shall eat with me tonight;
For you are a worthy woman and,
I will answer to all of your requests tonight.

Stay here tonight my love,
For i am Yahaya and all that you say i will do;
So bath and anoint yourself with love and,
Put on your beautiful garment of love as well!
For i saw the other naked woman washing next to him last night.

I am nearer to the gate of your love and,
May the one who gave honour to you be blessed!
And like the threshing floor of the river of love.
