Yesterdays World Poem by Andrew Rose

Yesterdays World

I know i cant remember,
the rolling fields of green,
when towering blocks of steel and glass
were nothing but a dream,

The fires on the plains,
setting the evening an eerie glow,
now its the city lights
that make our dear dawn glow,

I wish i could remember,
when the air was so crisp and fresh,
that all our lungs could do
is sigh and wonder why we breath a toxic death,

There was a time,
when the fog would inspire,
worlds of good and evil scenes,
now the morning smog just puts us all back to sleep,

You know ive heard of the days,
when snow was more fun than hassle,
the water was dropping
and we knew the meaning shallow,

I wish i saw the time,
when one was pulled by horse drawn cart,
woken by the call,
of a new born lark,

I know theres no tommorow,
and todays further from the last,
but its yesterdays world
that will always play to my heart...
