You And I Poem by Peter S. Quinn

You And I

Rating: 5.0

You and I together now
But will it always be so
Presence slips away somehow
When it’s time to go
Night turning to dark deep
What will we ever know?
What shall the expanse keep?
Where do our tears flow?

Now it’s time to live on
Give of love and from heart
Every footstep’s phenomenon
Give routes what they impart
Distance far and streets away
Love is the true turning force
Those that conquer its parlay
Will move on in time’s course

What has dried the well of tears?
Only love will ever know
Through gone and passing years
Following, how the wind must blow
Yesterdays like old dreams
Throbbing still inside my heart
Love’s still inside bloodstreams
There is no end - there is no start
