You Are Not A Whole Yourselves Poem by Bishnupada Sethi

You Are Not A Whole Yourselves

Like the five elements
you are made of,
there is a bit of me in you.
You are not a whole yourself.

I think you are yet to know,
who you are
and what you could do?
I had seen the sparks
even when you were a child.

Before you were born
I was told about it
and a name had been given.
My garden then saw
blooming of flowers
as if the earth was welcoming you
with a heavy shower of rains.

Often I saw
purity in your thought,
prayers in your mind,
and so much kindness in your heart.

When you saw an old woman
begging in front of school
you wondered
'how does she survive
and if there was any one to take her care'.
I had fumbled to explain
how God was taking her care
and who took away her hands.

As a small child
you'd courage to explain
the other little child crying
you were playing with
whose castle of sand on the beach
was washed away
by the mighty wave of the sea.
You'd consoled him
assuring him to be back again together
to build more of those
as a rebuff to the cruel sea.

At times I saw you
more wiser than I was ever.
You could guide me
to be rightful when I faltered
protected me when you thought
I needed love and care.

After I am gone
I wish to be there
in some bits of you.
If you love me
look my dear
this world created by the God
has offers many,
so much to live for
so much to wish for
and so much to give
by seeking His blessings.
