You Beat Your Wife Poem by Francis Duggan

You Beat Your Wife

You beat your wife but you say you love the flag of your Homeland
Your ways don't expect me for to understand
To beat your wife you believe is only her due
And to the flag of your Country you remain ever true
Don't care if you are from here or from a Nation afar
Your Nationality doesn't tell me of the person you are
Power over women with you may be a cultural thing
But the praises of people such as you I for one cannot sing
Despite your show of false patriotism to me it does seem
That you must be one suffering of low self esteem
Any self respecting man his wife or his children never does beat
And others with respect he always does treat
And as for loving the flag of your Country with me that's okay
But as for beating your wife shame on you I must say.
