You Can't Have It Both Ways Poem by Randy McClave

You Can't Have It Both Ways

This I will never understand
As I live and work in this great land,
To those who fly their flag on Memorial Day
Then pledge allegiance to the flag they say.
Our fallen heroes they scream they support
When their draped casket is carried from the airport,
They give their salutes and wave their flag
Their patriotism to their country they proudly brag.
Yet they support a cowardly bone spurred draft dodger
Who wants to once again be a White House lodger,
Who defaced the U.S flag with his signature
As would a traitor being immature.
Remember, he called all our fallen heroes suckers
He didn't treat them as our patriot brothers,
You can't honor our fallen and support a draft dodger on those days
Remember always, you can't have it both ways.
