You Do Know Poem by Gert Strydom

You do know even when at times
you want to look away from me
that I do love you past any rationality
and I that in your heart
you do have a special place for me

and there is nothing that can stop us
to recklessly love each other
even when it brings loss
to the people that do surround us.

Maybe it's the wise thing
to stay away from each other
or it seems as if your children do think this way
(as if they are standing in our shoes)
but I rather want to have you with me
for the rest of my life

and do want to love you more sincerely and intimate
than I know that it is possible
(you are right when you do believe
that I can never live without you)

and it becomes clearer to me
that I will destroy every other relationship
when you do come into the picture
and for me there is no other just like you

but what your children do not really comprehend
is that you are my lawful wife
and you and I are bonded to each other
before the Lord God

and when we are away from each other
we cannot wait to get back to each other again
as love does find a way through all kinds of things
and do constantly keep trusting, believing and hoping.
