You Gotta Get Outta Here Poem by Claude H Oliver II

You Gotta Get Outta Here

Rating: 5.0

When all is well
The day is bright
You’ve wakened from a dream filled night
Remember
You gotta get outta here.

When you are sick
Feeling ill
The best food tastes like swill
Remember
You gotta get outta here.

When you laugh and play
When joy has filled your day
When sadness fills your being
When sorrow holds sway
Remember
You gotta get outta here.

Whether young, middle-aged or old
Whether joyful, sorrowful or both
Whether burdened or prancing light
Whether in dark depression or joyful elation
Intense pain or numbed sensation
To be here forever is not our lot
Whether we like it or not
We gotta get outta here.

What do we do while we are here
If death is certain – why the fear?
We must live fully
Play hard, laugh loud
Cry honestly, love deeply
Give generously
Enjoy – bring our joy to others
If we can strive for these while we live
We can say when it’s our day

It’s time for me to get outta here

A thought -provoking poem and a reminder for all human beings that DEATH is lurking for us somewhere someday so we don't need to worry too much about the hurdles we may encounter in this life...

I love this poem, am I a bit bias-I think not? I enjoyed the humor and lightheartedness your poem presents about a topic that is often written in an elegiac form. a 10
