You Have Not Abandoned Me, O Love Poem by Mohammad Younus

You Have Not Abandoned Me, O Love

You have not abandoned me,
O Love,
I am held within Your gaze,
O Love.
Your breath lingers in my chest,
O Love,
And the sky is fragrant with You,
O Love.

Where I stand, I am not alone,
O Love.
Your sun does not retreat,
O Love.
No shadow overtakes me,
O Love,
For I dwell in Your light,
O Love.

O Heart of my heart,
Hope unfurls with Your name,
O Love.
I do not wander far from You,
O Love,
For You are the marrow of me,
O Love.
How could I drift from the sea—
That carries me whole,
O Love?

I am no fragment cast adrift,
O Love.
I dissolve into Your vastness,
O Love.
What need have I for reaching,
O Love,
When I see You have never left?
O Love.

I draw no strength from others,
O Love,
For You rise and fall in me,
O Love.
You are the ember, the spark,
O Love,
The song that sings me awake,
O Love.

I walk without end toward You,
O Love,
Gathering stars as I go,
O Love.
This road was etched by Your hand,
O Love.
My eyes will not stray,
O Love.
Without shadow, You remain,
O Love.
