You Have To Fake It Until You Make It Poem by Mark Heathcote

You Have To Fake It Until You Make It

You have to fake it until you make it.
All the greats do say.
And cherish all your mishaps and mistakes along the way.
Like loveless orphans and give them some missing hope.
Fight their battles and defend their loosely-knit morals.
For a time will come, as all good sea changes often do?
When a snagged anchor is freed
and your destination is reached,
Then, from across that shore, your eyes will peep.
And you will not remember the disappointment
Or the long, hard haul at all.
Or the squalls-in-the-gutter
Before you learned—to stand up tall
And forget to be small.
