The place where once you parted with me,
I am still standing there with hands stretched.
Ages have been passed but you never looked back.
You promised me you will return one day;
You promised me you will be back by spring.
Springs have been passed:
Of youth, of love, and of life too.
I am no more a spring flower now,
But I am still here waiting for you.
I didn’t stir,
My eyes never closed,
The pupil of my eyes is fixed on the spot,
From where you once gone leaving me alone.
You fired the flame in my little heart,
I never allowed the flame to die,
But the flame so kindled that I am now ashes.
Between the ashes and woods of pine-
The place where once you left me alone-
Come and blow my ashes away,
So I can be free forever now.

Hi there, What a wonderful poem. It is one of those you read that stick in your mind - the whole poem is breathtaking, the sheer implacability of human nature is expressed in 'I didn't stir.' Also I love the line 'The flame so kindled that I am now ashes.' Thank you and 10+
