You'Ve Got To Poem by John Carter Brown

You'Ve Got To

You've got to leave something
Behind when you go,
No matter how large
Or how small;
A lasting memento
Of who you once were
For family and friends to recall.

It's good to be making
A mark in this world,
Like creating from naught
Something new;
But don't leave it until
It's too late, or my friend
I know for a fact you will rue.

You may think you're happy
Just pleasing yourself,
Doing nothing but
Having a ball...
But you've got to leave SOMETHING
Behind when you go,
Or life wouldn't matter at all.

is it STILL your take on life? i guess everybody must leave SOMETHING, large or small, good or bad, for SOMEONE to remember. let's hope our poems (at least some of them) are enjoyed after we are gone. i would give this much more than a 5 but i don't vote that way. thanks for sharing. i came here today because you are one of ruth walter's (walters'?) friends. i just met her recently. then i recognized your photo and name in her list of friends. AND i'm not sure what it means for life to matter and i don't know if it is required of anyone. bri
