You Will Not Live Forever Poem by Francis Duggan

You Will Not Live Forever

You will not live forever but live for as long as you can
And that applies to every woman as well as to every man
You may not be worth much living but you are worth nothing dead
And it will not matter to you if kind or unkind things of you are said
You will not live forever one day we all must die
And that applies to the monarch as well as to you and i
You are one who lives in despair on the brink of suicide
But do not cheat the reaper let the reaper decide
When you have had your innings life's already short enough
And you keep on hanging in there even though the going is tough
For one to win one has to learn to lose do not throw the towel in
So fight on and keep living by dying you cannot win
And though you cannot live forever live for as long as you can
And that applies to every woman as well as to every man.
