You'll Rest In The Arms Of An Angel Poem by Mark Heathcote

You'll Rest In The Arms Of An Angel

Some say you'll rest in the arms of an angel when you're gone.
But darling, I hope it's just me.
Darling, some say you'll fly like a shingle roof tile far from me
But darling, I'll thatch that and keep you close tight to me
With hazel spars, I'll U-turn your heart. Just you, wait and see.
Some say, darling, your heart isn't safe with me
But darling, it's safer than money in the bank. Trust me.

But darling, I hope it's just me.
Darling, some say you've drifted off track
But darling, I know these roads well and all lead back to me.
Some say, darling, 'What have you done? '
Let this rag-and-bone man be
But darling, my ships in the port
Headed for a maiden voyage, you'll see
It's a voyage just for you and me.

And like a grifter darling, you'll uncover
Some gold that still glitters in my heart and soul
That shares all our shared memories
That survived all the storms that took
Others blossom on a breeze, unkind.
But with us, darling, it played no tricks
It just is. Wherever we want to, to goes. In our bedclothes
