Young Klipspringer - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

Young Klipspringer - Lincoln Park Zoo

A baby klipspringer am I.
Means 'rock jumper' in Africaan.
Of antelope, we're the small fry.
We don't get bigger than a swan.
We're herbivores, eating just plants,
Including all the succulents
That quench the thirsty circumstance
From water in the plant contents.
On tips of our hooves we stand
To grab the rocks like suction cups.
Ever sure footedly we land
As we go jumping downs and ups.

So come to the Lincoln Park Zoo.
I will jump on the rocks for you.
